I almost died. Well, not really, but you know how I love to be dramatic.

Sometime before Australia Day, I was bit by an unseen something that I initially believed was just a mosquito.  Then, on the 25th, Tim, Brendon and I were walking to Paddington (for no apparent reason, I might add) when I noticed that my ankle really, really, really hurt.

No, seriously.  It really hurt.

Of course, Tim and Brendon just made fun of me the whole time, so I just tried my best to ignore it and keep walking despite the fact that the pain was rapidly spreading up my leg.  I’m really tough, if you didn’t already know.

The next morning the pain was so bad that I couldn’t even sleep.  The BU Sydney Center was closed for the holiday, so I wasn’t really sure what to do and decided to tough it out for one more day.  (In the very least, it was distracting me from the pain of my sunburn.)

On Tuesday, my advisor suggested I go see a pharmacist, which I promptly did because the once tiny bite was now very swollen and very red/purple.

It turned out to be a spider bite, lucky me.

The pharmacist just kind of pushed on it a lot (which I probably could have done myself) and then told me to take some Benadryl.  He also advised that I avoid contact with spiders.

Australians have a flair for the obvious.

(I’m fine now, if you were wondering.)
